This year's annual Commodore's
day out was a trip to
Caernarfon and took place on Saturday, 14th May.
The weather was bright and sunny as the photograph above testifies but
there was a strong onshore breeze which made it feel much colder than it
actually was.
The coach left
the Cruising Club at 7:45am and headed
towards the Welsh
Highland Railway at
Rhyd Ddu where, at noon, we boarded the
steam train that was eventually to take us to Caernarfon. The
track clings to the Welsh hillsides and provides spectacular views of
the surrounding countryside
for the 75 minute journey.
The remainder of the day
was spent in Caernarfon where members explored the town on their own or in small groups taking in the breathtaking scenery and the invigorating
sea air and the occasional local hostelry. We returned to the coach at
5:00pm to make the journey back to the Clubhouse via
Betws-y-Coed and
Llangollen.
